What’s in Store
The first concert of the 2007 Music at McClellan concert season is only 2 weeks away. Dust off those picnic baskets and blow the cobwebs off the lawn chairs, it is almost time for music at Longleaf Park. This year’s opening concert will feature renowned Maestro Justin Brown leading the Alabama Symphony Orchestra in Maestro’s Choice, a mixture of popular favorites especially selected for our summer kick-off.

Our second concert on June 2nd promises to be full of surprises as we celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Star Wars series. The orchestra will perform the unforgettable music of John Williams. Come early and don’t be surprised to see Imperial Stormtroopers, Darth Vader or Chewbacca among the concert-goers. It will be a memorable evening for all as the 501st Legion ( www.501st.com ) joins us at The Orchestra Strikes Back.

Our third concert on June 9th is becoming a Music at McClellan tradition; Bravo Broadway. Tony Award nominee Susan Egan and Broadway star Sal Viviano will join the Alabama Symphony Orchestra in tunes from Guys & Dolls, Mack and Mabel, Beauty and the Best, Phantom of the Opera, and more.

And the final concert of the season is one of our most popular events, Classics Under the Stars. This year’s concert will include Copland’s Outdoor Overture and Grofe’s Grand Canyon Suite. And closing out the season will be Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture with the Music at McClellan tradition of live cannon fire. You don’t want to miss this!

Tickets are now on sale for all concerts at the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce, Golden Springs Pharmacy, the JSU Bookstore in the Theron Montgomery Building or at the McClellan JPA headquarters. Tickets can also be purchased online or ordered by phone at (256) 310-0852.

Come Early and Stay Late
As always the concert grounds open at 6 pm, concerts begin at 8 pm. Come early to enjoy the beautiful setting, listen to strolling minstrels, and be entertained by jugglers. In addition to the main concert, a smaller stage featuring local artists will appear before and after some concerts. Check the Concert Events page for details as the season grows nearer.
