Jim Marsh describes himself as a 49-year old long
suffering musician. Raised in Birmingham and exposed to bluegrass
at the age of 14 in the '70s, he has played banjo for over 30 years.
Jim first performed at Music at McClellan during the 2006 concert
season as a strolling minstrel among the picnickers before the formal
concert. He also plays guitar, mandolin, harmonica, bass, dobro
and concertina accordian.
"I came to Anniston in the early '80s and soon
formed the band Distant Cousins who are going on 25+ years as a
local and regional band," says Marsh. "I have also acted
in a number of local theatre productions . The most well known being
Smoke On The Mountain in which I played Berl Sanders the father
of a crazy gospel family band." |

Jim performed before concerts on May 26, June 9 and
June 16, 2007. Those that brought their picnic baskets and came
early to enjoy Jim's music were glad they did. Joining Jim were
a number of different side musicians including Kelli Johnson, Loyd
Andrews on dobro, and Rick Goodwin.
