| Music at McClellan's Thunderous
Conclusion |
|
|
The Alabama Symphony Orchestra returns this Saturday
for its final concert of the 2007 Longleaf Series with everyone’s
favorite – cannons! Along with Copeland’s Outdoor
Overture and Grofe’s Grand Canyon Suite, we will
hear John Williams’ The Cowboys Overture and Bizet’s
Carmen Suite. Capping off the evening, the always spectacular
cannons of the southeast join the symphony in an extraordinarily
explosive performance of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture.
To truly appreciate this performance, come early and learn about
the operation of cannon from the cannoneers. Afterwards, you will
be amazed at their skill and precision during the finale. Our artillery
will be fired exactly as it was during the original performance
more than 140 years ago, without electronics of any type!

Before & After
Music at McClellan is more than just the fine music of the ASO,
it is laughter and entertainment in the park both before and after.
This week Ron & Joel Anglin return
one last time to wow audiences with their juggling skills; Jim
Marsh returns to bring his touch of bluegrass as wandering minstrel;
the HodgePodge Orchestra will be playing their mix of jazz and new
age music and mimes will be directing traffic.
