The Orchestra Strikes Back
Can you name that tune in just 9 notes? Maybe it only takes 3, if
they come in the first measure of John Williams’ Imperial
March (Darth Vader’s Theme) or the Star Wars Main Title. Over
the past 30 years the music and the movie have become a deeply rooted
part of our American culture; and, on such an anniversary, a celebration
is in order. Bring your imagination and maybe your light saber to
Music at McClellan’s second concert The Orchestra Strikes
Back where the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Christopher
Confessore, devotes an entire evening to the music of Star Wars.
|
 |
This concert will be a treat not just to the ears
but to the eyes as well. Concert patrons can expect to be joined
by members of the 501st Legion, a group of dedicated Star Wars enthusiasts
that welcome the opportunity to don their authentic attire. |

Before & After
As always Longleaf Park will open at 6 pm for picnics and preconcert
fun. Watch for the
mimes of CAST and the ARC of Calhoun County to direct you to parking.
The Jacksonville High School band members will be available to Tote
for Tips to help you haul your stuff to the park, and then make
yourself comfortable while you listen to JAXPAN, Jacksonville’s
steel drum band. This will be their last performance of the season
so don’t miss them.

Still can’t get enough of Music at McClellan?
Stick around after the orchestra finishes for Jazz until Midnight
with Anniston’s own T.A.D. of Jazz. The six-member group will
appear on the small stage for some cool tunes under a nearly full
moon. |
