Newsletter May 2009
Welcome to the sixth season of Music at McClellan. Many
changes have occurred in 2009 and Music at McClellan has adjusted to the
times. Our concert season begins a week later than in years past and our
performance schedule is a little smaller but the variety of our offerings
has expanded. We hope you'll like the changes.
This year's opening concert on May 30th will feature The
Machine performing Pink Floyd. The Machine has forged a 20 year
reputation of excellence, extending the legacy of Pink Floyd, while creating
another legacy all its own. This sight and sound experience includes the
Interstellar Multimedia & Light show. And just in case you haven't
experienced The Machine yet. . . take a look, and pass it on!

Our second concert on June 6th returns from the interstellar to An Alabama
Homecoming with Ruben Studdard. American Idol winner,
and Brimingham's own, Ruben Studdard received a Grammy Award nomination
in 2003 for Best Male R&B vocal Performance. You can find him on MySpace
at http://www.myspace.com/rubenstuddard
The
season closes on June 13th with a Music at McClellan tradition; Classics
& Cannons Under the Stars. If you haven't experienced the
Alabama Symphony Orchestra's 1812 Overture with live cannon fire from
a battery Civil War era cannon, you haven't experienced Tchaikovsky. This
concert is always a memorable event. It is made more memoriable in knowing
that our Cannoneers are all volunteers and their perfect timing comes
from dedication and practice, not from any type of electronics.
Sponsor a Cannon
Show your support of these wonderful volunteers and become a Cannon
Sponsor. We need a minimum of 13 cannon and the crew to operate
each cannon, and they need a place to stay after the concert. You can
sponsor a cannon by providing room and board for the cannoneers, either
at the family home B&B or one of our local motels. For more details
