Newsletter May 2008

Welcome to the 2008 Music at McClellan concert season. Another season will be upon us in no time. As in year's past our first concert will be the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend (May 24th).

This year's opening concert will feature the Alabama Symphony Orchestra (ASO) in Stars & Stripes Pops! It promises to be a rousing evening in the spirit of Memorial Day weekend and the beginning of summer.

Our second concert (May 31st) promises to be full of fun for the entire family. In a reprise of last year's Star Wars tribute, the music of John Williams will again be featured in a night movie music in Harry Potter and Friends.

Our third concert on June 7th promises to be one of our most popular yet, featuring the music of the Swedish band ABBA with such hits as Mama Mia, Dancing Queen, Knowing Me Knowing You, and many more. You'll be tempted to dig out the spandex and disco lights.

The season closes on June 14th with a Music at McClellan tradition; Classics Under the Stars. If you haven't experienced the 1812 Overture with live cannon fire from a battery Civil War era cannon, you haven't experienced Tchaikovsky. This concert is always a memorable event.

For more details call (256) 236-2011 or (256) 782-8010.

Season Kick Off Event

Mountain Longleaf Festival
Making a return to the Historic Warehouse District of McClellan is the Mountain Longleaf Festival on April 19. What better way to celebrate Earth Day than a festival celebrating the Arts and the Environment! This family friendly event will feature a children's court, great food, arts demonstrations and exhibits, plant sale, a golf tournament, and live music. There is something for everyone. Join us between 9 am and 4 pm for a fun filled day. Details can be found at http://www.mcclellan-jpa.com/index/news/mlf_2008
