Newsletter - 2008 Concert #4
Classics Under the Stars
A much anticipated tradition of Music at McClellan is our season
finale. Join Conductor Christopher Confessore and the Alabama Symphony
Orchestra for the Hungarian Dances, the Emperor Waltzes, and many
other works by Liszt, Grieg, and others. Our program ends this season
with three works by Tchaikovsky, including the much anticipated
1812 Overture. And, in the tradition of Tchaikovsky's original performances,
our cannons are not electronically timed, but manually operated.

This is the concert that fires the senses. With the thunderous boom of
the cannon, the muzzle flashes lighting the night sky and the smell of
gun powder on the evening breeze as accompaniment to the greatest orchestra
Alabama has to offer, this evening promises to be memorable.

at McClellan favorite, Jim Marsh, banjo
player and singer for the group Distant Cousins.
